Materials:
Copy of You’re Nasty and You’re Loud by Jack Prelutsky in Something Big Has Been Here 1990.

Activities/Strategies:
Give students a copy of the poem You’re Nasty and You’re Loud.  Share with the students your example of how to perform this poem in a creative way, by using musical instruments and body movements.  Have the class brainstorm different types of weather, then discuss with them small facts about each.  Then have the class split up into small groups of three to four and have them create their own humorous poem about one of the types of weather that the class brainstormed.  Have them create a creative way to perform their poem like you did in the example.  Then bring the class back together and have each group perform their poem for the class.

Evaluation:
I will observe the students working together in their groups as they create their own poem about the weather.  I will also observe the groups performance when they do it for the whole class.
