Behavioral Objective:
The students will, in turns, each write his/her own name on the dry erase board to the best of his/her ability.

Materials:
Markers and dry erase board

Activities:
Start off the lesson by talking about the significance of names and tell an interesting story about my name.  Have the children tell stories about how they got their name or what they like or dislike about their name.  Write my name on the dry erase board as an example. T hen have each child take turns coming up to the dry erase board to write his/her name, and then have the class say the name together.  Examples: (a.) Amberley, (b.) Jenny, (c.) Sam

Process:

  • Say the words as a class.

  • Divide the class into three sections.  Assign a different word to each group.

  • Say the words in the three groups starting with the one syllable word.  Layer all three words.

  • Add body percussion.

  • Drop words, body percussion alone.

High Amberley Clap
Medium Jenny Pat
Low Sam Stomp

Evaluation:
I will observe the children write their names on the board.  Then I will ask the children which word we said the fastest and which of the three we said the slowest.
